On a dull, grey day, I thought I’d try a different style of photography. I’ve never delved into wildlife photography before, but today I came to the conclusion that, whilst my admiration for those who persist at it has grown, it’s just not for me. Personally, I like to have the time to compose my shots, something that birds are never going to grant me. I also decided that the 15-85 lens I borrowed, which I normally love, fell far short of the mark in terms of focal length. In terms of photographing objects that don’t move, I’ll often experiment, taking time to walk around and photograph from different angles, thus ending up with far more shots than I ever use. On this occasion, however, I deleted about 95% of the photographs I took – an appalling success rate!
